PLDT myDSL’s Internet to Sawa TRANSFORMS my internet experience from wasted time to productivity

 * click the image for larger view *

I have been a PLDT myDSL subscriber for 3 years now and it has helped me a lot in doing my online activities, including school, work and blogging. Unlike before, when I had to keep on going to a computer shop to surf the net with very limited hours because it was very costly. So I only had to budget my time and only prioritized what needed to be done.

Many years ago, I had to put up with a very slow internet dial-up access which is 56K speed only. What can you accomplish with that kind of speed?

With PLDT myDSL internet and Nuffnang, I can maximize my experience as a blogger. Nobody can go wrong with that!

Visit www.myworldmydsl.com for more information or call 171 to confirm your subscription today!

STREETLIGHT MANIFESTO
written by Mixkaela Villalon
directed by Ed Lacson, Jr.

Marian book anthology calls for submission

This is a call for submissions of creative nonfiction for an anthology tentatively titled, PILGRIMAGE TO MARIAN SITES.  The book will be edited by Cecilia Manguerra Brainard and published in the Philippines by Anvil Publishing.  Contributors will receive copies of the book as compensation for the use of their work.

The manuscript should be approximately 1,500-2,000 words.  This should be emailed to palhbooks@gmail.com.

The book will collect true accounts of pilgrim’s visits to Marian sites. The anthology will be something like a “tour guide” to other devotees of Mary who are interested in visiting Marian sites.

The editor is looking for well-written religious essays about people’s experiences when they visited Marian sites, in particular sites where Mary has appeared or where miracles have occurred because of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Some of the questions that should be addressed are: Why did the person make the visit? Where is the Marian site located, some history of the site? What did the person do while at the Marian site? What did the person experience while there or after the visit? Did the person experience any emotional or physical healing? Did the person experience any psychological change as a result of the pilgrimage?

Some of the Marian sites are: Fatima, Lourdes, Medjugorje, Knock, Pontmain, Pellevoisin, Giertzwald, Beauraing, Banneux, Pais, Rome, La Sallete, Guadalupe, Syracuse, Vellankani (India), Montserrat, La Vang (Vietnam), Zaragoza, Ephesus, Loreto, Czestochawa, Philippine-sites, and many more.

The publisher is Philippine-based; contributors with a Filipino connection are preferred.

Deadline for submission is October 15, 2011.  Early submissions are welcome.  Please send your bio (approx. 150 words) in people-friendly narrative form.

ABOUT THE EDITORCecilia Manguerra Brainard is the award-winning author/editor of over a dozen books. (http://www.ceciliabrainard.com/)

Book Launch of "A Moment in the Sun" by John Sayles

Fully Booked had its book launch of A Moment in the Sun by John Sayles on June 25, 2011 (Saturday) at 3:00 p.m. at the Atrium G/L of Fully Booked Bonifacio High Street.

After a well-received visit in February 2011 to talk about the Philippine-American war and promote his latest flick Amigo, independent film director and author John Sayles returns to unveil yet another one of his works. A Moment in the Sun is a novel that encompasses key moments in history—including the Philippines during the Fil-Am war—and is described by the Philadelphia Inquirer as “...a strapping 935 pages, a sprawling U.S.A.-style novel that, something like the John Dos Passos classic, follows a group of characters in parallel tracks as they traverse the America of 1897, taking in the Yukon gold rush, the Spanish-American War in the Philippines, and the advent of movies. Like all Sayles films and novels, it's drenched in a detailed, loving awareness of time and place.”

Our hero's plate was always filled with the flavors, colors, and textures that reflect the rich Filipino culture and heritage. Was the palate of this extraordinary man any different from the ordinary Filipino?

Nuffnang and Hapee Special Screening

Nuffnang is a online advertising company that gives its clients first class service. Hapee on the other hand is the toothpaste made by Filipinos that gives its customers first class cleaner and whiter teeth. Combining the forces of these two brands makes it world-class!

I've been a Nuffnanger since 2009 and I'm impressed at how they package their ideas into formidable advertising campaigns. In 2002 or 2003, I have attended a seminar-forum of Hapee toothpaste that was held at the RCBC Campus of De La Salle University and it's amazing to know the vision of this Philippine brand.
