Miss Earth 2018: 90 candidates; celebrates 18 years of Beauties for a Cause


Another season of beauty and responsibility is underway as Miss Earth marks 18 years of promoting environmental awareness. Ninety (90) delegates from across the globe have made their way to Manila, each one poised to work towards a sustainable living.

The 18th edition of the premier beauty and environmental event promises to be another year of learning, sharing, promoting the beauty of their respective countries and their advocacies.

Miss South Africa Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters is Miss Universe 2017; Philippines - Top 10


Miss South Africa Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters was hailed Miss Universe 2017 held at The AXIS at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States on November 26, 2017 (morning of November 27 in the Philippines). As the 66th edition of Miss Universe, Nel-Peters bested the other 91 candidates from across the globe, surpassing the previous record of 89 contestants in 2011 and 2012.

2nd German Film Week at SM MOA & SM North Edsa | Sept 27 to Oct 5, 2017


An interesting lineup of films that presents the breadth of contemporary German cinema makes up the German Film Week 2017 organized by the Goethe-Institut Philippinen. The films will be screened in two (2) cinemas: SM Mall of Asia (Pasay City) & SM North Edsa (Quezon City) from September 27 to October 5, 2017. Following its successful launch last year, the festival will once again offer a diverse selection of films for audiences, in their goal of promoting German language and culture.

Miss New Zealand Ariel Pearse is Miss Tourism International 2016/17


Miss New Zealand Ariel Pearse was crowned Miss Tourism International 2016/17 held at the coronation night at Putrajaya Marriott Hotel in Sepang Utara, Malaysia  (south of Kuala Lumpur) on December 31, 2016. Pearse won over 59 other contestants from around the world. The duration of the competition was from December 12, 2016 to January 1, 2017.

There was no competition for the year 2015-16. Miss Tourism International 2014/15 Faddya Ysabel Halabi Troisi of Venezuela crowned the new queen.

Miss Thailand Nucharin Sinlaparak was crowned Miss Tourism World 2015 at the coronation night held at Swiss Garden Hotel Melaka in Malaysia on January 16, 2016. Sinlaparak bested other 49 contestants from around the world.

Miss Philippines Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach's victory being crowned Miss Universe 2015 was such an overwhelming and uplifiting spirit for the Philippines, and to all the Filipinos around the world, after a 42-year drought of the coveted title. If you know what Pia has gone through since she first competed in Binibining Pilipinas 2013 (Miss Philippines 2013) winning only as 1st runner-up and competing again in 2014 but did not win any title, you will understand more how her achievement means to her and to this nation.

Miss Philippines Leren Mae Bautista is Miss Tourism Queen of the Year International 2015


Miss Philippines Leren Mae Bautista was crowned Miss Tourism Queen of the Year International 2015 at the coronation night held on December 31, 2015 at Putrajaya Marriot Hotel & Spa Grand Ballroom at 101 Resort City in Malaysia. Baustista bested other 56 candidates from across the globe. 

As the 21st edition of the pageant, this is the Philippines' third (3rd) Miss Tourism Queen of the Year International (MTQTYI) crown. The country first won the title by Santarin Sherylle in 1996; second was won by Racquel Uy in 1999

Miss Philippines Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach was gloriously crowned Miss Universe 2015 in the coronation night held at The AXIS in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States on Sunday, December 20, 2015 (December 21 8:00 am in the Philippines). Wurtzbach bested other 79 contestants from across the globe.

Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez  won as 1st runner-up, while Miss USA Olivia Jordan clinched the 2nd runner-up spot.

Miss Spain Mireia Lalaguna is Miss World 2015; Miss Philippines in Top 11


Miss Spain Mireia Lalaguna was crowned Miss World 2015 in the coronation night held at the Beauty Crown Grand Theatre in Sanya, China on December 19, 2015 (Saturday). Lalaguna bested other 113 contestants from across the globe.

Miss Russia Sofia Nikitchuk won as 1st runner-up, while Miss Indonesia Maria Harfanti clinched the 2nd runner-up spot.

Miss Russia Valentina Rasulova is Miss Intercontinental 2015; Miss Philippines as 1st runner-up


Miss Russia Valentina Rasulova was crowned Miss Intercontinental 2015 at the coronation night held at the Grand Ballroom in the Maritim Congress Hotel in Magdeburg, Germany on December 18, 2015 (December 19, 2015 3am in the Philippines). Miss Intercontinental 2014 Patraporn Wang from Thailand crowned her new successor.

Miss Philippines Christi Lynn McGarry (Miss Asia & Oceana) won as 1st runner-up while Miss USA Brianne Bailey (Miss North America) clinched the 2nd runner-up spot.

Miss Philippines Angelia Ong is Miss Earth 2015


Miss Philippines Angelia Gabrena Ong was crowned Miss Earth 2015 at the coronation night held at Marx Halle in Vienna, Austria on December 5, 2015 at 8:15 pm (which was 3:15 am, December 6 in Manila, Philippines). Ong bested other 85 beautiful candidates from all over the world.

Miss Earth 2014 Jamie Herrell from the Philippines crowned her successor who is also from the Philippines. Philippines became the first country to win back-to-back in Miss Earth pageant. Angelia Ong is the 3rd Filipina to win the title. The first crown was won by Miss Philippines Karla Henry in 2008.

Miss Paraguay Stephania Stegman was crowned Miss Supranational 2015 in the coronation night held at Krynica Zdrój, Poland on December 4, 2015. Stegman is a professional model who currently lives in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where she works and studies.

Miss Canada Sierra Bearchell 
won as 1st runner-up, while Miss Colombia Monica Castano clinched the 2nd runner-up spot.

World Premieres Film Festival 2015 Awards: Full List of Winners


The winners of the World Premieres Film Festival Philippines 2015 were honored during the awards night ceremony held on June 28, 2015 at Centerstage, SM Mall of Asia in Pasay City, Philippines.

Organized by the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP), in partnership with SM Cinemas and the Philippine Daily Inquirer, the film festival's second year showcases over seventy (70) films from thirty-five (35) countries. The awards night was hosted by Issa Litton with an intermission number by Drip, an electronic music duo.

World Premieres Film Festival 2015: 7 Main Competition Films | June 29-July 7, 2015


The World Premieres Film Festival-Philippines 2015 recently held a press conference to announce the festival’s Main Competition films at the Sequoia Hotel in Quezon City.

Seven (7) films from all over the globe will have their international premiere in the Philippines, the host country, as organized by the Film Development Council of the Philippines, in partnership with SM Cinemas and Philippine Daily Inquirer.

World Premieres Film Festival 2015: 8 Filipino New Cinema films | June 29-July 7, 2015


The World Premieres Film Festival-Philippines 2015 features eight (8) films to compete in the "Filipino New Cinema" section. This event is organized by the Film Development Council of the Philippines, in partnership with SM Cinemas and Philippine Daily Inquirer.

Contemporary filmmakers look forward to premiere their latest works before an international audience in the Philippines. This provides the festival with a section highlighting films produced and made by the host country.

International Film Expo (IFX) 2015 at SMX Convention Center | June 26-28, 2015


The Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP), the government’s arm in promoting the country as a destination for filmmaking and filmmakers, is bolstering efforts to draw in an international crowd at their annual International Film Expo. Now on its fourth year, the IFX is set to happen on June 26-28, 2015 at the SMX Convention Center Manila, SM Mall of Asia (MOA) Complex, Pasay City.
