MMFF 2022 official entries announced

 

The biggest, most popular and the widely supported and anticipated 48th Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) completes its eight 8 official entries with the selection of the 4 finished films from a record high of 22 film submissions.

The esteemed members of the Selection Committee headed by the multi-awarded and much respected leader of the film industry Boots Anson-Rodrigo chose the Top 8 based on the following criteria - Artistic Excellence - 40%, Commercial Appeal - 40%, Filipino Cultural Values - 10% and Global Appeal - 10%.

The Official 8 entries to the MMFF 2022 are:

6. NANAHIMIK ANG GABI by Rein Entertainment Productions

7. PARTNERS IN CRIME by ABS-CBN Film Productions

8. MY TEACHER by TEN17P

Rodrigo said members of the selection committee heavily deliberated on all of the entries, following the rules and judging them as films.

"It is a collegial decision of a deliberative body," said Rodrigo.

With this year's message "Balik Saya sa MMFF 2022” the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) and MMFF Concurrent Acting Chairman Engr. Carlo Dimayuga III urged moviegoers to support the festival, which has been part of the Filipinos’ Christmas tradition over the years.

“Let us watch the MMFF in theaters once more. We are happy with the list of entries, which has a wide mix of genres. We are excited and looking forward to MMFF 2022 becoming a success," said Dimayuga.

Hereon, the production can now start their promotional efforts which will be highlighted by the Parade of Stars to be hosted by Quezon City. 

The 48th MMFF will run from December 25, 2022- January 7, 2023 back into theaters nationwide observing the required health protocols.

The Gabi Ng Parangal will be on December 27.

46th Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF 2020): Full List of Winners

The 46th Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) Gabi ng Parangal was held last December 27 (Sunday). The awards night was done online hosted by actor Marco Gumabao and Miss International 2016 Kylie Verzosa. 

Ten (10) movies competed in this year's festival, which are streamed on-demand via Upstream and GMovies.

ANG LARAWAN based on a masterpiece by Nick Joaquin (MMFF 2017)

Ang Larawan the musical is based on the story, A Portrait of the Artist as a Filipino, by Nick Joaquin. Directed by Loy Arcenas and music composed by Ryan Cayabyab, the screenplay (book & lyrics) was written by Rolando Tinio from the original play.

The film is one of the eight (8) official entries to the Metro Manila Film Festival 2017.

DEADMA WALKING - the MMFF comedy film “to-live-for!”

With a grade of A from the Cinema Evaluation Board (CEB) and over four million views of its trailer in just three days, the feel-good comedy Deadma Walking is quickly becoming one of the much-talked-about and most awaited entries of this year’s Metro Manila Film Festival!

Comedy riot film "Deadma Walking" is coming

Filming has begun on Deadma Walking which won the 2nd Prize in the Screenplay division of the 2016 Carlos Palanca Memorial Awards for Literature, the most prestigious and longest-running literary writing competition in the Philippines.

The story revolves around gay BFFs (best friends for life) John and Mark whose friendship is put to the test when one of them has a terminal illness and asks the other to help him stage his fake death, wake, and funeral as his dying wish. The result is a comedy of "deadly" proportions.

42nd Metro Manila Film Festival Winners (MMFF 2016 Winners)

The 42nd Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF 2016) winners were announced during the Gabi ng Parangal (awards night) held at Kia Theatre in Cubao, Quezon City on December 29, 2016. The awarding ceremony was hosted by Mark Bautista, Yassi Presman and Roxanne Barcelo.

DIE BEAUTIFUL directed by Jun Robles Lana (MMFF 2016 entry)

Actor Paolo Ballesteros leads the cast for the first time in Die Beautiful, an official Metro Manila Film Festival 2016 entry directed by Jun Robles Lana. The film is a story about a transgender woman’s corpse which is stolen by her friends to honor her wish to be presented as a different celebrity on each night of her wake.  A poignant character study celebrating individuality.

MMFF 2016 entry, SAVING SALLY, gets A rating from Cinema Evaluation Board

The Metro Manila Film Festival Screening Committee describes one of the eight entries in this year’s December film festival, Saving Sally, as “an atypical youthful love story replete with child-like elements as applied through 2D animation.”

The Cinema Evaluation Board gave an A rating to the directorial debut of Avid Liongoren, a motion picture that weaves a young romantic story set in wonderful 2D animation hues.

42nd Metro Manila Film Festival: 8 Official Entries (Full-Length; Shorts)

The eight (8) official full-length film entries to the 42nd Metro Manila Film Festival have been announced. They are: #MMFF2016

41st Metro Manila Film Festival Winners (MMFF 2015)

The 41st Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF 2015) winners were announced during the Gabi ng Parangal (awards night) held at Kia Theatre in Cubao, Quezon City on December 27, 2015. The event was hosted by KC Concepcion and Richard Gutierrez.

Walang Forever won big with six (6) awards, including Best Picture, Best Actor (Jericho Rosales) and Best Actress (Jennylyn Mercado). Nilalang and Honor Thy Father won 5 awards each.

40th Metro Manila Film Festival Winners (MMFF 2014)

The 40th Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF 2014) winners were announced during the Gabi ng Parangal (awards night) held at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) in Pasay City on December 27, 2014. The event was hosted by Edu Manzano and Kris Aquino.

My Big Bossing - MMFF 2014 Official Entry

My Big Bossing, Vic Sotto’s entry to the 2014 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) is expected to create another blockbuster film franchise as the movie brings with it an all-star cast ensemble, three high-calibre directors and excellent production and visual spectacle to complete a trilogy of stories in one neat package of a movie this year.

The film will be shown starting December 25, 2014 (Christmas Day) in all major theaters nationwide.

MMFF New Wave 2014 Films | December 17-24, 2014

On its 40th and Ruby Anniversary, the Metro Manila Film Fest (MMFF) will showcase the outstanding film creations in four categories: Full Feature, Student Shorts, Animation & Cinephone.

The five full-length entries are Ato Bautista's Gemini; Zig Dulay's M. (Mother's Maiden Name); Jason Paul Laxamana's Magkakabaung (The Coffin Maker); Arlyn Dela Cruz's Maratabat (Pride and Honor), and Diane Ventura's Mulat (Awaken). 

MMFF New Wave 2014 (Student Shorts Section) - 5 Official Entries

The TOP 5 official finalists of the Student Shorts section of the Metro Manila Film Fest (MMFF) New Wave 2014 have been revealed. Films will be screened from December 17-24, 2014 in SM Megamall and Glorietta 4 cinemas, together with the 5 finalists for the Full Feature and Animation categories.

39th Metro Manila Film Festival Winners (2013)

The 39th Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) revealed its winners in the awards night held on December 27, 2013 (Friday) at the Meralco Theater in Ortigas, Pasig City.

The New Wave Section started the season showcasing the 5 indie films, 5 animated shorts, and 3 student-made shorts from December 18 to 24, 2013 at only two venues: Glorietta 4 and SM Megamall Cinemas.

Under the 2nd Cine-phone Film Festival category, it featured films made entirely through mobile phones. Here are the winners:
