The largest sports media property in Asian history, ONE Championship™ (ONE), held a luncheon for select members of the media at Vikings Mall of Asia on November 29, 2016 (Tuesday). Athletes in attendance included ONE Heavyweight World Champion Brandon “The Truth” Vera, ONE Bantamweight World Champion Bibiano “The Flash” Fernandes, and world title challenger Reece “Lightning” McLaren, as well as Filipino fighters Danny Kingad and Eugene Toquero.

Mister Supranational 2016: 37 Official Candidates

Mister Supranational 2016 is holding its first edition in Poland organized by its president, Gerhard Parzutka von Lipinski. Finals night will be held on December 3, 2016 in a live televised event which will take place in Krynica Zdrój.

Mr. Manila 2016 at Winford Hotel, Manila | December 10, 2016

Mr. Manila 2016, a bodybuilding competition, is set to showcase muscle and fitness on stage at Winford Hotel and Casino on December 10, 2016 (Saturday). The venue is located at Brgy. 350, Santa Cruz, Manila, Philippines.

Registration on the day will be at 7:00am to 2:00pm. Competition starts at 3:00pm. All contestants will receive a certificate of participation.

Miss India Dimple Patel is Miss Globe 2016; Miss Philippines Nichole Manalo - 3rd runner-up

Miss India Dimple Patel was crowned Miss Globe 2016 held at National Open Theater in Tirana, Albania on November 25, 2016. Patel bested the other 59 beautiful candidates across the globe. Patel is the first Indian to win the title. She was crowned by Miss Globe 2015 Ann Lorraine Colis of the Philippines.

Miss Colombia Yenny Carillo won first runner-up, while Miss Albania Kristina Skurra clinched the second runner-up spot.

Brandon Vera returns to ONE Championship cage to defend heavyweight title

ONE Heavyweight World Champion Brandon “The Truth” Vera (14-7-0, 1NC) of San Diego, California is set to make his much-anticipated return to the ONE Championship cage on December 2, 2016 (Friday) at the Mall of Asia Arena in Manila, Philippines. The Filipino-American fighteris set to defend his title belt against undefeated Japanese challenger Hideki Sekine (7-0) in the main event of ONE: AGE OF DOMINATION.

The matchup headlines a stacked fight card featuring a posse of local homegrown Filipino mixed martial artists. Seeing action are Team Lakay standouts Geje Eustaquio, Honorio Banario, April Osenio and Danny Kingad. Also to see cage time are Eugene Toquero, Mark Striegl, and Filipino-Australian Reece McLaren.

“How does one write the history of a ‘lost’ cinema?” The problematic surrounding Cebu’s “lost” cinema provides a daunting task for film historians desiring to write about a cinema whose films are lost, its filmmakers are gone and there is no reliable archive to consult about its past. Even the scant historiography available is uneven and in need of scrupulous scrutiny and validation. Considering the difficulties faced in historicizing Cebu’s “lost” film heritage, this talk will discuss key issues to consider in constructing the historiography of a cinema burdened with “absence” and “loss.”

Tawag ng Tanghalan: Challenger vs. Champion match

On "Tawag ng Tanghalan" segment of IT'S SHOWTIME (ABS-CBN Channel 2):

This is my take on the Daily Winner (Challenger) vs the Champion match. There are only 3 contestants daily. One contestant wins, who becomes the "Challenger." The Challenger then will have a singing match with the "Champion" (the winner/champion from the previous day and other days).

There are times that the Challenger is (far) better than the Champion, but judges are quite "forced" to make the Champion win again when it's very obvious who between the two perform well. Judges have the mentality to make the "Champion" win again for him/her reach 5 rounds (5 times to become a champion) so that s/he could qualify to the semi-finals round -- so that there will a good number of finalists in the semi-finals. I'm not saying that this happens always, but it has happened so many times. There are SO MANY great singers who have lost because of this. This is sad...

Five (5) times to become a champion is not an easy feat. Since that has been the guideline set by the show, they have to stand by it. If there will be new champions everyday, let it happen. It's not fair to push the "champion" reach 5 times to win when s/he doesn't deserve it. I know the singing battle is really tough, and only the best should remain.

During the time of TANGHALAN NG KAMPEON show of GMA Channel 7 in the 80's-90's shown every Sunday at 5:30pm, for a contestant to qualify in the grand finals, s/he should win at least 4 times (champion for 4 weeks). It was still a very tough competition for a weekly show. And some contestants have become champions for 8 straight weeks, which was the maximum stay in the competition.
