LEDs (or light emitting diodes), are steadily being used by commercial establishments here and abroad owing to their energy efficiency and low maintenance cost. In fact, US’ Environmental Protection Agency said that they also last significantly longer than incandescent and fluorescent lights, and generate very little heat.

NCCA spearheads National Arts Month 2015, bestows Ani ng Dangal


The National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), led by its chairman Felipe M. de Leon Jr. and OIC-executive director Adelina M. Suemith, is gearing up for the celebration of National Arts Month (NAM) this February with the theme “Pride of Place.” 

The NCCA has been leading the celebration of NAM every February since the signing of Presidential Proclamation 683 in 1991.

Lezgo Run at CCP Complex, Pasay City | March 15, 2015


Runtarantantan holds its second run for the year - the Lezgo Run - which will be held at the CCP Complex area in Pasay City on March 15, 2015. Registration is on February 12 to March 8, Thursday to Sunday at 1-8pm only. This event will support the projects of Batang Hala Foundation.

As a tribute to the popular Filipino singing group Apo Hiking Society, Runtarantantan presents the HaRUNa run happening on February 15, 2015 (Sunday) at 4:30am at Blue Bay Walk at Macapagal Avenue in Pasay City.

PETA closes its 47th season with ARBOL DE FUEGO | February 20-March 15, 2015

Call for Submission: Write Green: Premio Ambahan 2015


The Bienvenido N. Santos Creative Writing Center (BNSCWC) announces Write Green: Premio Ambahan 2015. This competition seeks to promote the writing of ambahan as a contemporary expression deep-rooted in our tradition. 

Ambahan is a short poetic form indigenous to the Hanunuo Mangyans of Mindoro. It consists of seven-syllable lines, mono-rhyme scheme, and images illustrating people’s lives in relation to their natural habitat. Its original language uses an ancient syllabary or a writing system Indic in origin.

Interview: Feng Shui expert Master Joseph Chau Kam Shing


The world-renowned Feng Shui expert Master Joseph Chau Kam Shing has just released his very first Feng Shui book, Feng Shui Essentials: Year of the Goat 2015 (published by Manila Bulletin) on December 16, 2014. His feng shui forecast for the Chinese New Year, published as a special supplement in the Manila Bulletin newspaper, has been followed for over a decade already.

The UP Institute of Creative Writing (ICW) is now accepting submissions for the 9th issue of Likhaan: The Journal of Contemporary Philippine Literature.

The Philippines' leading literary peer-reviewed journal, the Likhaan Journal is published annually with funding from the Office of the Chancellor of UP Diliman. It features the best of new and unpublished Philippine writing in English and Filipino. Submissions to the journal undergo a strict pre-screening and blind refereeing process by both the editors and a panel of referees composed of eminent writers and critics from within and outside UP.

The Virgin Labfest YEAR 11 is now open for script submissions. The Virgin Labfest is an annual festival of unpublished, unstaged, untried and untested works for the theater held at the Cultural Center of the Philippines. This festival is a partnership project of the Writer’s Bloc, Inc., Tanghalang Pilipino, Inc. and the Cultural Center of the Philippines.
