The VIRGIN LABFEST is now accepting script submissions for VLF 2027

The Virgin Labfest is an annual festival of unpublished, unstaged, untried, and untested one-act plays held at the Cultural Center of the Philippines (Tanghalang Ignacio Gimenez). This festival is a partnership project of The Writer’s Bloc, Inc., Tanghalang Pilipino Foundation, Inc., and the Cultural Center of the Philippines.

The call for script submissions is open to all FILIPINO CITIZENS.

THE VLF will choose 12 NEW One-Act/ Short Plays with the following criteria:

1. MAXIMUM running time of 40 minutes (around 25-35 pages)

2. The work MUST NOT have previously been:

a. published in book form

b. staged for more than 2 performances in a show run (readings, one-time workshop productions are allowed)

c. awarded any literary or drama prize in any major competition ON OR BEFORE the closing day of the Virgin Labfest Year 21 on June 28, 2026.

3. Works may be in Filipino or English. Cebuano, Hiligaynon, or Ilocano works ARE ACCEPTED with accompanying Filipino translations. Entries written in other Filipino languages may also be considered (also with Filipino translations), based on the availability/capability of performers.

SUBMISSION DEADLINE IS ON FEBRUARY 28, 2026, 11.59PM.

The chosen plays will be formally announced right after the VLF Year 21 in June 2026.
