Philippine PEN National Conference 2012

The Philippine Center of International PEN (Poets, Playwrights, Essayists, Novelists), on the occasion of its 55th year, will hold its annual literature conference on December 6-7, 2012 (Thursday-Friday) at the Silangan Hall of Cultural Center of the Philippines, Pasay City. This event is supported by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts.

The theme is “The Writer as Public Intellectual.” This gathering seeks to chart how writers can influence the body politic and the critical mass, and examine the challenges they face in their mission to become social agents. 

Madam Carmen Guerrero Nakpil will be the José Rizal Lecturer. The keynote address will be delivered by Luis Teodoro. Speakers and panelists include National  Artists F. Sionil José and Bienvenido Lumbera; distinguished writers Nicanor Tiongson, Antonio Enriquez, Elmer Ordoñez, Rony V. Diaz, Charlson Ong, Angela Stuart Santiago, Melba Maggay, Tito Valiente, Michael Tan, John Nery, Jojie Tigno, Soledad Reyes, Amadis Ma. Guerrero, Ma. Luisa Torres Reyes, among others.
