Ateneo Art Gallery calls for project proposals on Art & Food

A Taste for Art

In its constant quest to present its collection in a new light the Ateneo Art Gallery is inviting proposals for food and food related projects that take inspiration from the Ateneo Art Gallery’s permanent collection. Food may be the material for artworks to be exhibited or the center of an event or a menu that is inspired by the artworks in the collection. Proposals will be accepted for on site or offsite displays, installations and activities.

Sining Ugnayan: The NCR Visual Artists Directory

“Sining Ugnayan: Creating the NCR Visual Artists’ Directory” is a project that will identify, locate, and record in writing and document in photographs the existing visual artists and artists’ groups all over Metro Manila. There are 16 cities and 1 municipality that make up the geographical basis for the project’s methodology. National Capital Region (NCR) or Metro Manila is composed of 16 cities and 1 municipality (the cities of Manila, Quezon City, Pasay, Caloocan, Malabon, Mandaluyong, Marikina, Paranaque, Valenzuela, Makati, Pasig, Muntinlupa, Taguig, San Juan, Navotas and Las Piñas and The Municipality of Pateros).

Qualifications (any of the following):

1. Professional Visual Artists working in Metro Manila

2. Practicing Visual Artists who are residents of Metro Manila

3. Art Groups/ Organizations established in Metro Manila

Visual arts genres or professions:

Painting (Traditional Media/ Mixed-Media)/ Illustration/ Graphic /Digital Design/ Sculpture/ Installation Art/ Photography/ Animation/ Printmaking/ Art Educators/ Art Groups/ Organizations (and other related visual arts field)

Knowledge Channel holds "Lead the Change 2010"

The Knowledge Channel Foundation has been committed to its mission to reach the children through educational television and online learning for many years now. On February 17, 2010, the Foundation will hold a new groundbreaking event dubbed as "Lead the Change 2010" to be held at the Rockwell Tent in Makati City. It is a gathering of prominent people and a marketplace of brilliant minds who will share ideas in an evening of discussion about moving the Philippines into action in business, social development and public governance.   

Lead the Change 2010 is a timely event to address various concerns on reducing poverty in the areas of education, health, population, governance, environment and peace. Rina Lopez Bautista, President of the Knowledge Channel is excited to hear what the high-profile business, diplomatic and public officials have to say about how to face the challenges of our country today. We will commit to a plan of action on how Knowledge Channel can bridge the gap between knowledge and skills in the aforementioned areas.

Public schools have a growing need for quality education because of lack of resources coming from the government. Many students are deprived of the learning they deserve. Knowledge Channel fills in that need by providing the right tools for learning through media and technology especially in the fields of English, Math and Science. Ms. Peggy Dulany Rockefeller

Ms. Peggy Dulany Rockefeller, founder of the Global Philantropists Circle and Synergos Institute, will grace the event as its guest of honor. Synergos Institute was launched in 1987 as an independent nonprofit organization intended to create effective and sustainable solutions against poverty. Oscar M. Lopez, Chair of the Lopez Group of Companies and Chair of the Knowledge Channel Foundation will also deliver an inspirational message.

The following is an approximate cost connecting a public school to Knowledge Channel. Encourage the public/ community to donate or support:

1. Cable-A-School Sponsorship:

- around P100,000 per public school for cable-able schools

- around P150,000 per public school for remote schools with satellite dishes

These sponsorships to provide KCh to public schools are inclusive of the following:

- a 29" TV set

- a satellite dish and digital receiver for remote schools

- support services: teacher and adminstrators training workshop-seminars on "TV-Assisted Instruction", semestral KCh Progam guides, regular monitoring

2. Sponsor a Program:

- around P350,000* per 20-minute TV episode and online learning materials

"Within & Without Blanc" by Anino Shadowplay Collective at Blanc Gallery (Dec 7-28, 2009)

The question of Philippine viewership, even awareness of its Australia-bound projects has led the ANINO Shadowplay Collective to Blanc Makati this December. The exhibit Within and Without Blanc culls from and builds on ANINO’s output for its second collaborative project with Filipino-Australian playwright Paschal Daantos Berry and theatre artist Valerie Berry - Within and Without, a contemporary performance project inspired by Intramuros - the heart of and witness to the most tumultuous phases of Philippine history.

Within and Without Blanc is a selection of ANINO’s videos, photographs, animation, installations and cutouts created and redesigned through the R&D and creative development phases of the performance project. Opening night featured a performative sketch that ponders on Philippine history and contemporary society.

The ANINO Shadowplay Collective is a group of multi-media artists dedicated to the development and popularisation of Philippine shadowplay.
