In celebration of the Heritage Month this May, the NCCA Gallery holds a print retrospective of BenCab, which includes the most essential outputs in the printmaking medium done by our National Artist Benedicto Cabrera. BENCAB Graphics: A Print Retrospective includes the most essential outputs in the printmaking medium by our National Artist Benedicto Cabrera or popularly known as BENCAB. 

Philippine Association of Printmakers (PAP) offers summer workshops

The Philippine Association of Printmakers announces schedule of workshop courses for the summer 2011 as follows:

BASIC PRINTMAKING 

April 30,  May 7,14, 21 and 28, June 4
6 Sessions every Saturdays 1:00 to 5:00 pm

Learn the basics of four different printmaking techniques and produce a variety of prints. The course covers monotype, collagraph, rubbercut, and drypoint to be conducted by noted printmaker/engraver Benjie Torrado Cabrera and Angelo Magno.

THE Cultural Center of the Philippines and the Philippine Association of Printmakers (PAP) jointly celebrate National Arts Month in February 2011 with the exhibit Petit Format: PAP Fine Print Exhibition 2011, an exhibit of small-format prints by various artists who are members of or affiliated with the PAP.

Sining Ugnayan: The NCR Visual Artists Directory

“Sining Ugnayan: Creating the NCR Visual Artists’ Directory” is a project that will identify, locate, and record in writing and document in photographs the existing visual artists and artists’ groups all over Metro Manila. There are 16 cities and 1 municipality that make up the geographical basis for the project’s methodology. National Capital Region (NCR) or Metro Manila is composed of 16 cities and 1 municipality (the cities of Manila, Quezon City, Pasay, Caloocan, Malabon, Mandaluyong, Marikina, Paranaque, Valenzuela, Makati, Pasig, Muntinlupa, Taguig, San Juan, Navotas and Las Piñas and The Municipality of Pateros).

Qualifications (any of the following):

1. Professional Visual Artists working in Metro Manila

2. Practicing Visual Artists who are residents of Metro Manila

3. Art Groups/ Organizations established in Metro Manila

Visual arts genres or professions:

Painting (Traditional Media/ Mixed-Media)/ Illustration/ Graphic /Digital Design/ Sculpture/ Installation Art/ Photography/ Animation/ Printmaking/ Art Educators/ Art Groups/ Organizations (and other related visual arts field)

Lecture-Demo on Printmaking (14 Feb 2009)

I had my first experience of Printmaking way back in the summer of 1999 when I attended the Summer Art Camp organized by Ayala Museum. We had 3 days of doing art in Tam-Awan Village (Baguio's art center) in the heart of Baguio City.

On February 14, 2009 (Sat.), after 10 long years, I got to experience printmaking again, as an art form and how fine prints are made. It was held at PAP workshop studio located behind the Folk Arts Theatre in CCP Complex, Pasay City. The lecture included a powerpoint presentation by Ambie Abaño, video showing and actual demonstration by Benjie Cabrera. Ambie also did some demo with the other participants, like myself.

The Philippine Association of Printmakers (PAP), in its four decades of existence, continues to bring art to the people with its multi-original prints, exhibiting and holding workshops to promote the art form and subsequently to democratize art. It was founded in 1968 through the pioneering efforts of Manuel Rodriguez, Sr., along with Adiel Arevalo and other printmakers he mentored. It has since become the prime mover of graphic arts in the country. For almost forty years, the association has devoted itself to the promotion of printmaking and bringing art to the people.
