13th Pasinaya Open House Festival: Palabas at Palihan at CCP | February 4-5, 2017

A wide variety of exciting activities await the public in the 13th PASINAYA OPEN HOUSE FESTIVAL 2017: PALABAS AT PALIHAN; the largest annual multi-arts festival in the country with more than 300 shows in music, theater, dance, visual arts, film, and literature to choose from and more than 50,000 viewers. Taking as its theme ARTS FOR PEACE, the festival which will be held at the CCP and various museums and galleries in the city will feature excerpts from the works of over a hundred arts groups and thousands of artists from around the country.

Philstage Gawad Buhay Awards 2014: Complete List of Winners

The 6th Philstage: Gawad Buhay Awards 2014 announced its winners in a night of celebration at the Cultural Center of the Philippines on June 6, 2014. The nominees came from the theater productions shown in 2013. Tanghalang Pilipino's Der Kaufmann and Trumpets' The Bluebird of Happiness clinched the most number of awards.

Pasinaya: CCP Open House Festival is the largest one-day multi-arts festival in the country. This year's festival, which will be on March 16, 2014 (7am to 7pm), has the theme "Pasinaya Goes the Extra Mile" in celebration of its 10th Anniversary.

With more than 150 shows in music, theater, dance, visual arts, film, and literature to choose from, 3,000 artists participating, and an expected viewership of over 50,000, the Pasinaya transforms Manila and the art and culture mile between the Cultural Center of the Philippines Complex and Intramuros into the most creative place on Earth.

After a successful national and international tour, Ballet Philippines’ Crisostomo Ibarra returns for 2 weekends at the CCP Little Theater. Awarded “Outstanding Dance Production of 2010” by the Gawad Buhay! Awards for the Performing Arts, Ibarra caps the sesquicentennial of Dr. Jose Rizal, our national hero, with these special performances scheduled around his birthday this year.

Join us in celebrating Rizal by revisiting his Noli in dance form. Choreographed by BP artistic Director, Paul Alexander Morales, the two evening performances features the live performance of Jed Balsamo’s noted original score with five leading musicians performing for these special Gala nights.

Ballet Philippines presents "The Sleeping Beauty" (Dec. 8-11, 2011)

Ballet Philippines presents The Sleeping Beauty at the CCP Main Theater showing on December 8 (Thursday) at 10 AM and 3 PM, December 9 (Friday) at 3 PM and 8 PM and December 11 (Sunday) at 3 PM. The performances on December 10 (Saturday-3PM and 8PM) are sponsored by Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Employees Association and Knowledge Channel, respectively.

The Manila Symphony Orchestra will play Tchaikovsky's music live for one last time on December 9 at 8 PM, with Katherine Trofeo as Princess Aurora and Jean Marc Cordero as Prince Desire.

Ballet Philippines' "Don Quixote" (February 17-20, 2011)

Ballet Philippines takes a giant leap this February with a lavish and opulent production of the famous ballet classic, Don Quixote, at the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP). Derived from an episode of the novel by Spanish author Miguel de Cervantes, this adaptation follows an aging gentleman who had deluded himself to be a knight-errant rescuing damsels in distress, and the adventures of young lovers Kitri and Basilio. The story culminates with the most popular dance duet in ballet history, the couple's grand pas de deux. 

Wifi Body 5: Independent Contemporary Dance Festival (June 25-July 4, 2010)

On its 5th successful year, wifi body Festival gathers again contemporary dance artists who will showcase new and innovative contemporary dance works and a magnet for collaborations with artists of other disciplines with contemporary dance. A project of the Contemporary Dance Network Philippines in partnership with the Cultural Center of the Philippines, this festival has grown since its inception in 2006, to involve two hundred thirty-two (232) dance artists in twenty (20) dance organizations, with an average of fifty (50) choreographers with 52 contemporary dance piece premieres a year. wifi body Festival is, indeed, the pre-eminent contemporary dance event in the Philippines today. Wifi Body 5 is happening in simultaneous locations from June 25-July 4, 2010.

Philstage sets 2009 Gawad Buhay! rites at CCP on March 26

The Philippine Legitimate Stage Artists Group, Inc. (Philstage), in cooperation with the Cultural Center of the Philippines, will confer the 2009 “Gawad Buhay!: the PHILSTAGE Awards for the Performing Arts,” on Friday, March 26, 2010, 7:30 p.m., at the Tanghalang Aurelio Toletino (CCP Little Theater).

The awards show is free admission and open to the public.

An independently juried peer award, Gawad Buhay! is the first-ever industry awards exclusively for the performing arts. Ninety-five artists and productions vie for 30 individual and group award categories honoring outstanding achievements in play, musical and dance productions of Philstage member-companies for 2009.

“With the excitement building up after the award’s maiden edition last year, we expect bigger support from the artists, our friends in the media and our audiences for this year’s ceremonies,” said Fernando Josef, Philstage president and artistic director of Tanghalang Pilipino.

The two-hour program will feature excerpts of performances from last year’s nominated productions. Invited to perform are Menchu Lauchengco Yulo and Marvin Ong from Repertory Philippines’ “Sweeney Todd;” Joann Co and Victor Robinson III from PETA’s “Si Juan Tamad, Ang Diyablo at ang Limang Milyong Boto;” and Candice Adea and Angel Gabriel from Ballet Philippines’ “Masterworks.”

A distinguished achievement award called “Natatanging Gawad Buhay!” will also be conferred to artists and corporate supporters who have contributed significantly to the professionalization of Philippine Performing Arts.

Philstage is the country’s only organization of professional performing arts companies with regular season programming of repertory development and performance pedagogy training. Its Board of Directors include PETA's Melvin Lee, vice president; Ballet Philippines’ Sandy Hontiveros, secretary; Repertory Philippines' Gidget Tolentino, treasurer; Actors Actors’ Leonardo Lim, Ballet Manila's Susan Macuja, Gantimpala Theater Foundation’s Tony Espejo, Organisasyon ng Pilipinong Mang-aawit’s Mitch Valdes, TRUMPETS' Audie Gemora and PHILSTAGE Executive Director Elmar Beltran Ingles as members.

Ballet Philippines' "Masterworks" (August 14-16, 2009)

In celebration of Ballet Philippines' 40^th year, the company will be opening the season with Masterworks, a showcase presenting significant works that have established Ballet Philippines as the flagship company in ballet and contemporary dance. From its extensive repertoire of over 400 works in classical and contemporary works, Masterworks will include Agnes Locsin's neo-ethnic Igorot; Edna Vida's Ensalada to the music of Ryan Cayabyab's "Mamang Kutsero," "Bakya Mo Neneng" and "Limang Dipang Tao"; Bam Damian's athletic pas de deux Evacuation; Gaano Kadalas..., created by the late Tony Fabella; Swimming the Ilog Pasig by Alden Lugnasin; William Carter's neo-classical ballet, Bach Concerto; BP Founding Artistic Director Alice Reyes' Romeo and Juliet; and Denisa Reyes' Te Deum.
