Award-winning film APOCALYPSE CHILD holds VIP premiere


The film Apocalypse Child held its VIP premiere on October 24, 2016 at Robinsons Galleria. 

Produced by Arkeo Films and Skinny People Productions, and shot entirely in the surfing town of Baler in Aurora, Apocalypse Child is a sexy drama tells of the saga of Ford (played by Sid Lucero) who is supposed to be the son of a famous American director. Now a surfing instructor, Ford must come to terms with his identity as his mother Chona (Ana Abad Santos) and his best friend Rich (RK Bagatsing) have managed to send feelers to the director to acknowledge paternity. Meanwhile, conflict is brewing as Ford teaches Rich’s fiancee, Serena (Gwen Zamora) to surf, which upsets Fiona (Annicka Dolonius), a visiting Fil-Am who has a secret love for Ford.

Since it debuted at the 3rd QCinema International Film Festival where it won Best Picture, Best Director (for Mario Cornejo), Technical Excellence in Editing, and Best Supporting Actress (for Annicka Dolonius), Apocalypse Child has gained critical and audience acclaim.


Its ensemble cast has gotten nominations from the Film Academy of the Philippine (FAP) Luna Awards and the Gawad Urian; Ana Abad Santos scored two Best Supporting Actress trophies for her portrayal of Chona from the FAP and Urian. The movie has screened in New York, Korea and Italy; and is now set to screen in five festivals in the coming weeks in Poland, Toronto, Germany, Hawaii and Laos.The Cinema Evaluation Board (CEB) gave it a grade of “A,” entitling the film to a 100% tax rebate. It has thrilled SRO audiences at special screenings in local schools and art house cinemas.

Watch Apocalypse Child and be treated to an intriguing story, fine performances, awesome visuals, and a terrific soundtrack. Armi Millare, who created the musical score and sings the theme song “Young Again,” has composed a second song entitled “Wrong” exclusively for the theatrical release of the movie.

The event was supported by Solar Entertainment, Jack TV, Solar Sports, with partners Crossover 105.1 FM, Robinsons Movieworld, and Rogue Magazine. Leading the group of distinguished guests was former Representative of Aurora, now Senator Sonny Angara, who was impressed with the movie. After the premiere he said, “It’s very charming. It’s well put together. The story and the music are very good.”
