DepEd-endorsed, NOLI ME TANGERE, THE OPERA returns anew to the CCP for one weekend only (June 21-23)


‘Ang Sampung Pangarap ni Rizal’ online art exhibit supplements the smash-hit opera.

To celebrate the anniversary month of the Department of Education (DepEd) and to further promote cultural awareness and appreciation, DepEd, together with the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP), J&S Productions Inc., and Enrique Zobel Foundation Inc., brings back the smash-hit landmark production of Noli Me Tangere, The Opera to the Tanghalang Nicanor Abelardo of the CCP for one weekend only, from June 21 to 23, 2019.

Audition: Noli Me Tangere (Opera) | May 2-3, 2014


Based on a novel written by Jose Rizal, Felipe de Leon's Noli Me Tangere Opera first debuted in New York City and now will be staged in Manila this September 2014. 

Auditions are scheduled on the following dates at Resorts World Manila:
  • May 2, 2014 Friday (4-8pm) - Registration is from 2-4pm only
  • May 3 Saturday (10am-3pm) - Registration is from 8-1130am only

Tanghalang Pilipino's SAN ANDRES B (a Filipino opera) | November 29-December 7, 2013


In celebration of the 150th birth anniversary of its National Hero, Andres Bonifacio on November 30, 2013, Tanghalang Pilipino in cooperation with the Cultural Center of the Philippines, National Commission for Culture and the Arts and National Historical Commission of the Philippines proudly present a New Filipino Opera in two acts entitled San Andres B., based on the libretto of National Artist for Literature, Virgilio Almario and set to music by leading Asian contemporary composer, Josefino Chino Toledo, and directed by Floy Quintos.

The Metropolitan Opera presents "AÏDA" at the CCP | March 19, 2013


FOR the first time, the Cultural Center of the Philippines, in cooperation with the Opera Guild Foundation of the Philippines, features screenings of the latest operatic productions by the Metropolitan Opera through digital technology, starting with Giuseppe Verdi’s AÏDA in high definition video and full dolby sound at the CCP Tangahalang Aurelio Tolentino (Little Theater) on March 19, 2013 at 3pm and 8pm.

FEU stages "Noli Me Tangere" (an opera) on January 24, 2013



As part of Far Eastern University’s (FEU) 85th anniversary celebrations, its President’s Committee on Culture is proud to present a one-night only performance of Noli Me Tangere, an opera by Felipe de Leon, National Artist for Music whose birth centennial is also being celebrated this year.  This will be held on January 24, 2013 at 5pm at the FEU Auditorium.

CCP & MusicArtes present "Madame Butterfly" (June 22-23, 2012)


The Cultural Center of the Philippines together with MusicArtes Inc., brings to life Giacomo Puccini's most famous opera Madame Butterfly at the CCP Main Theatre (Tanghalang Nicanor Abelardo) with two Gala performances on June 22 and June 23, 2012 (Friday & Saturday). 

This timeless masterpiece, with the perfect elements of passionate love and the conflict of cultures, features a young rising star in the opera world, soprano Mako Nishimoto, Mexican tenor Dante Alcalá, an accomplished tenor who has performed in 16 different countries worldwide.

Korean & Filipino Opera artists perform in "La Traviata" (March 2-4, 2012)


THE Cultural Center of the Philippines in cooperation with the Opera Guild Foundation of the Philippines, and Daejeon Opera Company of Korea will present the well-loved Italian opera La Traviata by Giuseppe Verdi on March 2-4, 2012 at the CCP Main Theater.

A stellar cast led by multi awarded Korean soprano Yun-Kyoung Yi, Korean baritone Daesan No, Korean tenor JaeWook Lee and Filipino opera stars Rachelle Gerodias, Andrew Fernando, and La Scala tenor Arthur Espiritu will essay the title roles of Violetta, Alfredo and Germont. The Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra, under the baton of Prof. Jae Joon Lee, will provide live orchestral music, while the internationally awarded UST Singers will render choral support.  

Floy Quintos directs the production with set design by Ricardo Eric Cruz and costume design by Eric Pineda.
