10th Cinemalaya Film Festival: Full List of Winners (2014)

The 10th Cinemalaya Film Festival Awards Night was held on August 10, 2014 (Sunday) at the Tanghalang Nicanor Abelardo of the Cultural Center of the Philippines in Manila.

Bwaya was cited “for its melding of documentary and fictional filmmaking, its effective depiction of a community’s efforts to come to grips with the horrible death of a young girl from a crocodile attack, and its powerful evocation of the marshes of Agusan in Mindanao, a vast wilderness where man and beast seek to maintain an ecology of cohabitation.”

Kasal, a slice of life drama of a gay couple, was cited for its “deeply sensitive and moving depiction of the intricacies of relationships.”

NEW BREED
Number of awards earned by each film:
Bwaya - 4 awards
Children's Show - 3 awards
Dagitab - 3 awards
K'na the Dreamweaver - 2 awards
Sundalong Kanin - 1 award
1st Ko Si Third - 1 award
Mariquina - 1 award
#Y - 1 award

Note: Both S6parados and Ronda did not earn any award this year. I have yet to see Ronda and others too. There are just so many good films produced for the Cinemalaya Film Festival 2014 but I can vouch that S6parados is one of the best in this lot!
