Coming from a successful launch of the first-ever Global Handwashing Day last year, Unicef, Procter & Gamble Safeguard and partners continue the advocacy of teaching kids how to wash hands with soap properly as they celebrate the 2nd Global Handwashing Day. With the theme Clean Hands Save Lives, this years GHD aims to collect 1 million handprints from children nationwide, signifying the their commitment to continue the lifesaving habit of handwashing with soap, as well as teaching their fellow classmates to start the habit!

Global Handwashing Day was conceptualized to stem the transmission of highly preventable diseases such as diarrhea and pneumonia. These diseases account for the top causes of deaths in children under the age of five worldwide. In the Philippines, diarrhea is the 4th leading cause of deaths among children less than five years and kills 10,000 children annually.
