KinoFest German Film Festival 2024 at Shangri-La Plaza Cinema | Sept 26-29, 2024

Goethe-Institut is organising its third edition of the annual German film festival, KinoFest, scheduled to run throughout September to November 2024. KinoFest 2024 will take place in various cities across Southeast Asia and the Pacific region, showcasing the most recent films with a variety of genres ranging from documentary, adventure, drama, comedy, animation, to thriller.

In Manila, the KinoFest 2024 can be enjoyed free of charge from September 26 to 29, 2024 at the Shangri-La Plaza, Red Carpet Cinemas, Cinema 3. The festival will feature seven (7) new German films alongside a special curated program, KinoFest Special, which honors Germany’s cinematic connections with the Philippines and includes four (4) short films and one (1) feature-length film.

4th German Film Week Manila celebrates Fall of Berlin Wall | November 6-12, 2019

The Goethe-Institut Philippinen is pleased to announce the opening of the fourth installment of German Film Week in Manila with an exciting and diverse line-up of 12 feature-length German films for the Filipino movie audience.

The festival will screen the following award-winning and notable films: 25km/h (Markus Goller), 100 Things (Florian David Fitz), A Regular Woman (Sherry Hormann), All About Me (Caroline Link), Balloon (Michael Bully Herbig), Barbara (Christian Petzold), Berlin Blues (Oskar Roehler), Cold Feet (Wolfgang Groos), Good Bye, Lenin! (Wolfgang Becker), Gundermann (Andreas Dresen), The Keeper (David Kross), and The Lives of Others (Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck).

3rd German Film Week at SM Aura Premier & SM North EDSA | November 6-11, 2018


The Goethe-Institut Philippinen is pleased to present the 3rd German Film Week in Manila, giving the audience an insight into contemporary German cinema. Following the two previous successful years, the festival will go in its third round and once again offer a diverse selection of films for the audience.

“Rainer Werner Fassbinder: A Retrospective” at Cinematheque Manila | April 7-22, 2018


This summer, the Goethe-Institut Philippinen presents some of the best works of the well-acclaimed German filmmaker, Rainer Werner Fassbinder, in a retrospective exhibition that's free for all. Eleven Fassbinder films including a documentary about him will be screened every weekends from April 7 to April 22 at the Cinematheque Centre Manila. ADMISSION IS FREE!

2nd German Film Week at SM MOA & SM North Edsa | Sept 27 to Oct 5, 2017


An interesting lineup of films that presents the breadth of contemporary German cinema makes up the German Film Week 2017 organized by the Goethe-Institut Philippinen. The films will be screened in two (2) cinemas: SM Mall of Asia (Pasay City) & SM North Edsa (Quezon City) from September 27 to October 5, 2017. Following its successful launch last year, the festival will once again offer a diverse selection of films for audiences, in their goal of promoting German language and culture.
