There are so many things that we can learn from running. It's not just about speed or being able to reach the finish line. It makes us test our limits, having self-control and getting fit and healthy. When practiced regularly, it motivates us to do better and teaches us the discipline in the things we are passionate about.

In joining a marathon race, running per se is not only that matters, but the preparation and the training one will do, having that one goal in mind - to finish the race. Many runners don't prepare at all, and I can say that it's also one mistake I want to get over with. Any physical & mental exercise would count a lot to prepare our body to get physically fit for the challenge ahead.

adidas King of the Road (KOTR) race is fast approaching and running enthusiasts & veterans are getting ready for the 5k, 16.8k and 21k courses. There are so many things to do to prepare for the ultimate race of the year - getting the proper running gear and clothes, eating a nourishing diet, and proper exercise to prevent any problems in our running.

Here are some tips that can help us be a running champ in this year’s King of the Road race:

1.  Check the route of the map to see the terrain - the downhills, uphills, ridges that can make an impact on your running performance.

2.   Get the perfect pair of adidas running shoes. Before, I thought that any shoes can be used for running. I was very wrong! I never realized that the shoes I was using gave me so much pain, exhaustion and I could easily get tired. I suggest choose the adidas shoes appropriate for your running needs - may it be for road running or trail run, to avoid pains in our legs, feet and lower back. Consider shoes that have proper ventilation, cushioning and comfort. Also, choosing something that fits your size - not too big nor too small.

3.    Load up your body with a lot of carbohydrates. It is a good source of energy. The best sources of carbohydrates are fruits, sweets, soft drinks, bread, pasta, potatoes, rice, and cereals.

4.  Do a lot of stretching before and after the run. Never underestimate what stretching can do for our body. No stretching can lead to different types of running injury. The soreness is lessened, muscle flexibility is increased, strides are longer, and long term injury is prevented.

5.   Rest a lot in between workouts or exercises. This will give our body enough time to recover.

Race Dates:
15 May - Thailand
28 August - Singapore
25 September - Indonesia
2 October - Malaysia
