Broadway & Disney legend Lea Salonga honored with Hollywood Walk of Fame Star

Broadway legend and Disney Legend Lea Salonga made history on September 4, 2026, when she was honored with the 2,855th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Nominated by the Manila International Film Festival (MIFF) and dedicated under the category of Live Performance, Salonga became the first-ever Filipina performer to receive a star on the world-famous boulevard.  

The ceremony took place in Los Angeles, California, right outside the historic Hollywood Pantages Theatre on Hollywood Boulevard.

Star Location & Category: Salonga received her star in the Live Performance category, located at 6255 Hollywood Boulevard in front of the Pantages Theatre—a fitting spot given her legendary contributions to musical theater.  

Distinguished Guests & Tributes: Hosted by emcee Sibley Scoles, the event featured guest speakers and close peers who paid tribute to her influence across theater, film, and global representation:  

Ming-Na Wen (who voiced Mulan while Salonga provided Mulan's singing voice) praised her legacy, stating: "Your real legacy lives in the people you have inspired, the performers who found courage because of you, and the millions of fans who found joy in your music."  

Brandy highlighted Salonga's groundbreaking representation: "Before many people knew how to speak about representation, Lea had already turned it into sound. Her voice told millions of children, 'You are not outside of the magic.'"  

Darren Criss, wearing a traditional Barong Tagalog, commended her relentless work ethic and discipline: "One does not make it from Manila to Hollywood with a resume as prolific as hers simply on talent alone."  

Other notable attendees included Grammy-winning artist H.E.R., Philippine entertainment personality Pops Fernandez, Star Trek: Picard actor Vincent Rodriguez III, and Forgotten Island directors Joel Crawford and Januel Mercado.
