3 x 3 = 9 at The Wallery (May 4-June 22, 2010)

Mag:net Cafe Bonifacio High Street's The Wallery presents 3 X 3 = 9, a group show of 3X3 works by 9 artists in varied styles and genres.  

Opening on May 4, 2010, the show features works by a diverse group of established and emerging artists from the visual arts community. 

Rudolph Barredo has just earned his University of the Philippines Fine Arts Bachelor's degree and is an alumnus of the Philippine High School for the Arts in Makiling who specializes in distortion and local figures.

Alfred Capiral is another University of the Philippines and Philippine High School of the Arts alumnus.  Currently teaching in an international school, he works with colorful abstract patterns.

Marika Constantino is a full-time painter and a part-time teacher at Kalayaan College.  She has exhibited her works in various spaces locally and internationally.  A University of the Philippines alumna, she works with floral patterns and textures that contrast with her preferred subjects of femininity and emotions.
Illustrator Dexter Fernandez whose featured work is in collaboration with Dina Gadia is a graduate of  TUP. A veteran of local and international exhibits, Dexter's works deal with hard core pop culture and apathy.


Marcushiro and B R U together form Electrolychee, a design studio in based in Metro Manila. Marcushiro is a versatile visual artist who works with various media from wall bound works to printed illustrations. Marcushiro has also illustrated numerous books and has exhibited at different major gallery spaces. B R U on the other hand, is a visual artist who currently works with embroidery, encaustic and acrylic.


UST alumnus Jay Pacena is a teacher at the Asia Pacific College and an active member of the TUTOK artist collective. Mixing digital prints with paint based techniques Jay is very much influenced by pop video culture.


Jon Red is a University of the Philippines and Philippine High School of the Arts graduate and is one of the pioneers of independent filmmaking in the country. Jon's works closely mirror the subjects seen in his films - criminal gangs, violence and street culture.


Another University of the Philippines and Philippine High School for the Arts alumnus, Ian Victoriano is a well respected screenwriter and a full time painter.  Ian's abstract pieces have been exhibited internationaly and capture the spirit and emotions of Filipino narrative epics.

3 X 3 = 9 also marks the debut of CCP Thirteen Artist Awardee and visual artist Don Salubayba as curator of Mag:net Bonifacio High Street's Wallery.  With a vision of a casual art space dedicated to showcasing works from practicing visual artists and different disciplines , 3 X 3 = 9 is an accurate preview of the upcoming shows that can be expected from Don Salubayba and the Wallery.
