"Stand Up" launched by MyShelter Foundation & Philippine Green Building Council

MyShelter Foundation, in cooperation with the Philippine Green Building Council (PHILGBC), had a press launch of "Stand Up," the United Artists Song for Climate Adaptation, on October 29, 2009 at Alliance Francaise de Manille. It is a collaborative effort of 47 musical artists from the different record labels through the initiative of Sony Philippines in response to the tragedy of Ondoy. Alliance is located at 209 Nicanor Garcia Street (formerly Reposo), Bel-Air II, Makati City.

Speakers on Climate Adaptation were Elisea "Bebet" Gozon, former DENR Secretary and United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) Champion of the Earth for Asia and the Pacific, Chris dela Cruz of PHILGBC, and Illac Diaz, founder of MyShelter Foundation.

According to the Global Climate Risk Index, the Philippines is one of the ten most afflicted countries in the world in terms of the number of lives and property lost as a result of damage due to climate, and these are mainly in the form of increasing intensities of typhoons visiting the islands annually. This puts the country in one of the major predicaments of developing nations; having very little to do with creating greenhouse emissions, but having to face that the populations will probably be the hardest hit by global warming.
The proceeds of the project will go to the development of BERDE OS (Building for Ecologically Responsive Design Excellence), an Open Source rating system for rebuilding low-income communities.

The song, "Stand Up" was written by Boogie Romero, arranged by Mark Lakay and recorded by Noel Cabangon. This project is also being supported by Mr. Stephane Doutrelant, executive director of the Alliance Francaise de Manille.  Listen to this very beautiful & moving song!

seasons come, seasons go.
why won't the rain stop falling?

weighing on her.
bring her home. bring them home.

we've got to join hand, pitch in.
we've got to do our part and start from within.
we've got to

stand up! the world is changing.
rise up! get ready to face the storm.
get ready!

bring hope amidst change.
bring home our brothers who need to be saved.
they need to be saved.
we live in one world.
we must work together to preserve.

BRIDGE:
there are no better people to do this than you and I.
there's no better time to do this than right now.
bring them home
