The 7th National Teachers Congress on Visual Impairment

EDUCATION FOR THE BLIND: BREAKING THROUGH OBSTACLES

The 7th National Teachers Congress on Visual Impairment

This year’s National Teachers Congress on Visual Impairment will be held at the APO View Hotel in Davao City on Dec. 4-7, 2008, with the theme: Facing the Challenges of Inclusive Education for Learners with Blindness and Visual Impairment. Educators, school administrators, parents of blind children, and interested parties from all over the country will gather in this event.

Speakers will highlight innovations or new strategies on teaching blind students. The Congress aims to improve the skills of regular and special education teachers for them to be able to mainstream blind students in regular classrooms. It also intends to identify strategies to overcome the challenges faced in providing quality education of blind children.

RBI and the Bureau of Elementary Education will recognize teachers who have demonstrated outstanding performance in their program for students who are blind. Loyalty awards will also be given to teachers who have been in service for more than 30 years.

The National Teachers Congress on Visual Impairment is held every two years. This is a joint project of Resources for the Blind, Inc. (RBI) and Christofel Blindenmission (CBM), and in coordination with the Department of Education.
